LiveJournal * 2004-12-03 * 10:44am
I finally have LJ embedded into this page, so it's what shows up on the 'home' page now. So, this stuff won't be updated now, it's just as it says, archives. Look on
home for current info. Please keep in mind that it is my journal, so it isn't always interesting to everyone else, just to me!
World Series * 2004-11-04 * 7:00pm
*ahem* Just in case anyone lives under a rock, or just doesn't pay attention.....
The Red Sox Won The World Series!!!!! *ahem* I love my boys. So very proud.
That is all.
Dragon*Con * 2004-08-11 * 3:32pm
Dragon*Con has now come and gone for the year 2004. Ken and I had a
great time and were even lucky enough to not get rained all over (despite Hurricane
Frances coming our way). The weather was actually quite lovely the entire time.
Granted, it was cold inside most of the time, but still. It was good.
This was the first year for me to have a video camera at the convention,
and I think I made pretty good use of it. I recorded over three hours worth of
material, from Craig Parker and Sala Baker (of Lord of the Rings fame) to Jeremy Bulloch and Daniel Logan (both Boba Fett from Star Wars) to the annual parade and the Whose Line finals. I'm looking forward to watching it all again and editting it in a way
that it makes more sense!
We made some fun purchases again this year, as well. We bought an amazing
piece of art that is now gracing our living room with its beauty. It's a little
large to post on this page, so here is a link to it. It's a phoenix that was cut out of oak and painted with oil
paints. It's quite marvelous, and the picture just doesn't do it justice. Also,
we purchased a set of candleholders made out of copper and enamel, a few books
and comic books, and even a few gifts for Christmas!
I must point out that we did also make a trip to The Cheesecake Factory. It was delicious, as always, and I'm ever jealous that Bethany has so many
of them near her when we have none. It just isn't fair! However, we did make use
of the fridge in our hotel room and bought three pieces of cheesecake to get us
through the weekend. If you've been there and you like carrot cake, you must try the carrot cake cheesecake, it's amazing!
What else? Great panels. Great costumes. Great fun. Missed Bethany
being there with me, but she promises to come next year! Can't wait to go back!
Cruising on Carnival * 2004-04
Somehow, I managed to not write about our cruise from April, so I thought
I should add something quickly. We went, it was amazing. We have loads of photos
but they aren't online yet. I'm working on it, but I just can't seem to get the
gallery thing working on my webpage. Once I do, pictures will be up along with
details of the trip. Or, if you want to know more, please stop by and watch the
videos!
This and That * 2004-03-13 * 6:10pm
Not a great deal to report at the moment. We've both been pretty busy
with work and haven't really had the time to do all that much otherwise. We've
gone to the movies (go see Hidalgo, it's a great movie!), went to a Mardi Gras parade with Amy and Austin, helped
my parents get their new computer all set up, and not much other than that. Yesterday
and today, Ken had to work while I'm home, and then tomorrow and Tuesday, he'll
be at home while I'm at work. I know it isn't true all of the time, but lately
it seems that Pam has fun scheduling him in a way that we have as little time
off together as possible. That really makes me look more and more forward to the
summer off. He'll still be working, but at least we can spend all the days he
is off together. That will be a massive improvement!
No travels to report since we came back from WV. No new pictures, either,
I don't think. I've been reorganizing the house a little, trying to put things
in places that they make sense. Can't think of much beyond that, really. So, I
guess I'll leave it at that for now. I'm planning to do a little work on the site
soon, so check back for more stuff soon.
Back to Work * 2004-01-15 * 7:36pm
Well, Winter Break has been over for about two weeks now and we're
definitely both back into the grind... err... swing of things with work and all.
It's been keeping us busy, and that makes me miss the amount of time that Kenny
and I get to spend together when we do have so much time off together. It's like
we can forget about work and money and cleaning and cooking and just enjoy being
together for a while. That's nice. Not that we can't do that when we're not on
holiday, mind you, it's just that it's really nice to be able to do it for over
a week!
On other notes, Ken is currently shopping around for a new car because
his poor little Shadow is old and tired. *sniff* I'll miss that little car when
it's gone, I really will. It's so cute, and sweet, and there are lots of memories
tied in with that car (like our first trip to New Orleans and our trips to Tennessee).
Sweet, cute, little car. But, he definitely needs a new one because this poor
baby isn't going to last all that much longer.
I like my job (most of the time, anyway), even if it doesn't seem like
I do when I tell people how many working days left until summer break. I don't
actually know the number off of the top of my head, it's just scribbled into my
calendar so that I'll have it as a reference. It really helps when you can look
at a calendar and know that in however many days you'll have a nice long break
to do whatever with. Very handy, that.
Well, we are here, just not updating much. Been busy just living and
enjoying life. Send an email or give us a call if you miss us too much!
Happy Holidays! * 2003-12-22 * 12:45pm
It's Winter Break for those of us lucky enough to work in a school
system, and for those still in school. That means several days of getting to stay
up late, sleep late, and just lounge around, if we want to. It also means time
to get the house really cleaned up (hopefully), to finish all the gift wrapping
and shopping (but not in that order), and to enjoy the break. Rest. That's a big
part of what it should be about, as well.
Of course.... I've managed to find myself sick for my holiday break,
already. Hopefully, though, my cold will go away in short order and I won't be
miserable for Christmas or for the drive up to West Virginia. Being sick is definitely
not the ideal situation for such a long drive, that's for sure! Yesterday, I slept
most of the day away, but still felt bad when I woke up at 4:00. Didn't eat much,
but I did get lots to drink. I went to bed early, and slept a good eleven hours
or so. Today, I feel better. Not great, but better at least. Well enough to be
daring enough to tackle the crowds at the various shopping places, I think. Maybe.
Anyway, I just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday season. Be careful
if you're travelling, or be nice to people that are if you aren't. Get some rest,
and love your family. Oh yeah, and enjoy the gifts, even if you already have the
same thing at home!
So, what do you think? * 2003-11-14 * 7:19pm
Simple, yet nice? Or is it just too bland? Not flashy enough? Oh well,
I'm ready for something simple. Something I do for myself. With pictures we've
taken, and not junk I've found somewhere else. My big pictures as backgrounds
idea blew up in my face, but maybe this one will work a bit better. I think it
looks good so far, anyway.
And Yet Again... * 2003-11-14 * 6:22 p.m.
I am, once again, redoing the webpage. I couldn't make the last design,
which I loved, work well for some reason. Well, it worked correctly, except the
loading time was killer for anyone not on a cable connection. Go figure. So, starting
from scratch, again. It'll be a bit until it's all up and running the way it should
be, but until then, here's what I've got.
